I'll be using a basic handycam/camcorder Sony DCR-SR42 on our visit to Ocean Park. My camcorder doesn't have an external lighting device and I'm worried that the light source on the park will not be enough to capture the rich blue waters and the fishes.

This will be my first attempt to capture blue waters, aquariums or fishes on video, I want to cherish this event for my son.

Thanks

Hey all

I'm having some problems getting a cable wired, so I'm asking for some expert advice. :)

I have a 1/8 stereo male that I want to split into left and right channel XLRs. I'm doing this to send audio from my computer to my subwoofer, then on to my studio monitors. I had Mark Stoddard at Lavacable build me one, but it's not working -- and he's already tried to fix it once.

With his cable, I can pan left and right and get audio, but when I move the balance to center, I get just garbled, odd audio.

Further, my multimeter is showing signal from the tip of the 1/8 to BOTH XLRs, and it's also showing signal from the ring to BOTH XLRs. Shouldn't it be one or the other?

All that said, how should this cable be wired? I can see how to wire the tip and ring to the left/right XLR, as well as a common ground -- but I don't know what to do with the XLR return.

Anyone have a diagram they can post or draw for me?

Thanks!
Maury

Greetings;

As some of you might have already noticed I'm not able to enter and track the incoming and outgoing messages in this site, as often as before.

Part of the fact is that, the media college web site has lost a significant amount of visitor quality and became a paradise to Asian link-scavengers, penniless gangs and other hopeless people around the world with homosexual behaviors.

These people are causing serious damage to this web site's integrity and its real market value.

Once of the most reputable and professional web sites, Media College is now suffering the sudden shift of new world order, whatever it is.

One thing is certain that Media College is still a valuable web site in terms of the information made available to public, and they once had one of a kind reputation as an online community that helped every new comer with every detailed answers.

Now the scene has changed and the resulting situation is now dangerously intoxicating, having far more than just an irritating effect on my skin..

Almost every new post is filled by one time comers and with semantically meaningful outgoing destinations at will.. most of them, may be not all of them, is intentionally done hoping to gain some undeserved precedence on search engines.

But I'm honored to tell you that this situation will change very soon by the help of social media integration in Google results. The true nature of the owner of some link will pay significant importance. But what we do have right now is that the search engine reputation of the overall mediacollege domain and the value of our links fall together with the abundance of low profile people and their looking-alike spam destinations.

SUGGESTIONS PEOPLE?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - -- - - - - - - - - - ---- - - - - - - -

First thing first - Don't hire just janitors, but ESTABLISH an effective TASK FORCE to make regular sweeps in this site, and fight back using a series of SEO tricks even on their home. For all I know, going online with two or three brand-new websites, flooded with links to exact destinations and having their own schematics and keywords, say, a thousand links on a SEO enriched but "intentionally" dirty-tricked web page will undoubtedly damage whatever the Mediacollege abusers hoped of gaining in the end. Furthermore, telling Google about any illegal content and copyrighted or cloned material, knowing as I am one of the professionals, their accounts would be suspended forever.

Second - enable supportive systems: Unless this BULLETIN BOARD stops supporting user LINKS, or devise a way to interpret user URL's with their own set of outgoing links, or even unless they administer new set of policies to let know HOW TO EARN A NAME or signatures, I don't expect much from novice questions like this one; I don't respond as often as before, either.

Third - if the users BADLY want advertisements, Media College can do their part and enable one of a kind brilliant advertisement systems! They can even appear on pages, their banners may be shown at some reserved area in this site - I don't know - but all of these good things can be achieved with a good cooperation of the users and a mutual understanding in between.

Every answer to be made on this thread will be e-mailed to me 724 :) and this will ensure I'd be following your suggestions. To contact me you might wanna to try locating me on Twitter or Linkedin, as well.. Mediacollege is still the shortest path to get me through..

Actually, I'm more willing to hear from Ta Awamutu area (where exactly is that 128 POBOX St.). I'm also intended to do certain real things 'together' in business.

hear me out Dave - we can do better than this.
Or I'll be missing the old days regretting every new one.

regards;

Hi,

I'm interested in uploading a digital camera video to my site, it was taken at the highest res. settings possible for that camera (Large/Super-Fine). Now, before I spend my time on trial and error, as far as I learned from a video streaming article I just read, you need to consider the output resolution and the video size.

What is recommended as an optimal Web video size (Not too big/small) and resolution, so that the final Web video won't be too heavy to upload and be displayed fluently at my site's visitor's screens?

thanks,
2. Do i need amplifiers to assist me with this?
3. What do I need to add on what I have to improve my sound?
4. Lastly, I use Adobe Audition 2.0 to record the live sound. Now i need to record each channel separately, what do I need to buy to make this possible that can record 14 channels? Currently I am recording one track straight from the mixer from a 4dB output port.

How about adding the ability for a feed owner to authorize trusted users to change/update the News and Feed Alerts status for their feed(s)?

Each feed owner would have the option of setting up an authorized list of those accounts who could access a limited control panel for their feed(s), where those users would then be able to change/update the News and Feed Alerts status, nothing else. The list would be unique per feed, and need not be the same authorized users for each feed a person runs. I can see this coming in very handy for local/regional feeds where you have a network of friends who monitor at various times during the day and night. If the ability to update those alerts is shared among multiple users, you're likely going to get much better and more timely usage out of that feature.

Whether or not this is even possible without a major re-write of the code, I have no idea, but I figure it's worth throwing out there

I am looking at lens options for camera I already own vs buying new camera to shoot documentary with. I want the best cinema look I can pull from the camera as many scenes in the doc are shot on 16mm film. Any insight on best options here would be greatly appreciated. I'm finding so far that lens adapters alone are more pricey than just purchasing a newer modeled HD pro cam. What are the details in an adapter and attaching a less expensive still camera lens? Also I am wanting 35mm out of all this. Thank you very much.

Question 1: "I recently purchased a JVC camcorder that records video as .MOD files. I can't seem to edit the files or play them on my PC. Is there a way to convert .MOD files to .MPG or something that works on my computer?"

Question 2: I have a video file off my JVC as well and wonted to play it on WMP so i changed the file extension from .MOD to .MPEG. Now the problem i have is that the video quality is poor. It is like the video cant keep up with the playing speed, lines drag when something moves. I know this quality is poor because it plays fine on cyberlink power dvd. Any help plz on how to fix the poor quality????

Question 3: I change the ext. mod to avi or mpg , and it works but the problem no sound at all.. .try to burn it into dvd, no luck, i try to burn it into vcd no luck also...

Introduction: .MOD files are JVC's implementation of MPEG-2 transport streams, similar to a VOB file on a DVD or the M2T files used on Sony hard drive camcorders.

Solution:
I actually just found a program called Aiseesoft Mod Converter. This program will allow you to export your video(s) as .AVI,WMV,MP4,3GP files etc. Here is a brief overview of how to do it:

Make preparations:
Install and run Aiseesoft Mod Converter

Quick Guide:
Step 1. Add files
Step 2. Set output video format
Step 3. Click the "Start" button to start the conversion.

This tool also allows you to split, join, crop Mod/Tod files, it is very powerful.

I hope this helps, if anyone has a better method or a better software for doing this, please let me know!
