I need some tips on how can I capture rich blue waters or aquariums on video.

I'll be using a basic handycam/camcorder Sony DCR-SR42 on our visit to Ocean Park. My camcorder doesn't have an external lighting device and I'm worried that the light source on the park will not be enough to capture the rich blue waters and the fishes.

This will be my first attempt to capture blue waters, aquariums or fishes on video, I want to cherish this event for my son.

Thanks

Nonetheless, I was wondering if there are still any around, ones that fit what I want, and I'm looking for unused ones. Personally I'm looking for HD CRT's that are 24", if there are none than 26", but no bigger or smaller than these two measures.

I am looking at lens options for camera I already own vs buying new camera to shoot documentary with. I want the best cinema look I can pull from the camera as many scenes in the doc are shot on 16mm film. Any insight on best options here would be greatly appreciated. I'm finding so far that lens adapters alone are more pricey than just purchasing a newer modeled HD pro cam. What are the details in an adapter and attaching a less expensive still camera lens? Also I am wanting 35mm out of all this. Thank you very much.

A solution for playing JVC camcorder(mod files) problems

*Question 1:* "I recently purchased a JVC camcorder that records video as .MOD files. I can't seem to edit the files or play them on my PC. Is there a way to convert .MOD files to .MPG or something...

Question 1: "I recently purchased a JVC camcorder that records video as .MOD files. I can't seem to edit the files or play them on my PC. Is there a way to convert .MOD files to .MPG or something that works on my computer?"

Question 2: I have a video file off my JVC as well and wonted to play it on WMP so i changed the file extension from .MOD to .MPEG. Now the problem i have is that the video quality is poor. It is like the video cant keep up with the playing speed, lines drag when something moves. I know this quality is poor because it plays fine on cyberlink power dvd. Any help plz on how to fix the poor quality????

Question 3: I change the ext. mod to avi or mpg , and it works but the problem no sound at all.. .try to burn it into dvd, no luck, i try to burn it into vcd no luck also...

Introduction: .MOD files are JVC's implementation of MPEG-2 transport streams, similar to a VOB file on a DVD or the M2T files used on Sony hard drive camcorders.

Solution:
I actually just found a program called Aiseesoft Mod Converter. This program will allow you to export your video(s) as .AVI,WMV,MP4,3GP files etc. Here is a brief overview of how to do it:

Make preparations:
Install and run Aiseesoft Mod Converter

Quick Guide:
Step 1. Add files
Step 2. Set output video format
Step 3. Click the "Start" button to start the conversion.

This tool also allows you to split, join, crop Mod/Tod files, it is very powerful.

I hope this helps, if anyone has a better method or a better software for doing this, please let me know!

Hey there,

I tried to search this, but could not find anything. So I am sorry if this is a double post. I recently purchased a 1TB external hard drive that can be accessed through the internet (Web Access Hard Drive). In order to watch my videos and my music over the internet, I have to completely download them. Is there a way that I can set my media files to stream off of my hard drive? I have read a topic here, and I do not think that this pertains to my situation. I can give you my hard drive's model and firmware information if it would help.

Thanks in advance,

I have read other threads similar with my problem, which can play with window media player, can import avi but can not play in Premiere source monitor. Some of reasons they don't install codec for their particular avi.

But my avi is uncompressed. The video is taken by DC Canon Ixus 850 IS, old model not DSLR. The video property is 640 * 480, 1'18" long, 110 MB, 30 frames/sec, don't show any codec in this file property and in Premiere CS 4 property. I sure this is uncompressed avi.

When it plays avi in source monitor, it always stay in first frame, audio is fine.

I had install ffdshow(codec package) before this problem happen. The first time it can play avi in Premiere, but few days ago it can't. During those days I don't install any other codec or change any window vista setting. Every time I import avi it will load ffdshow codec, so I try to disable it when import avi, doesn't work. And try to change Premiere sequence to :
editing mode: Destop
timebase: 30 frames/sec (match my avi)
frame size: 640 * 480 (match my avi)
Pixel aspect ratio: 1.0 (match my avi)
fields: no field
display format : 30 frames
preview file format: Microsoft AVI
codec: have try all of them
and finally doesn't work, I already crazy. Please, help me!!!!!!

Hey there!
(Sorry if the below stats are wrong!)
I understand that if shooting video with the PAL standard you are shooting in 25 fps and NTSC is around 30 fps and film 24 fps. On my Sony Z1 it has a cineframe feature called CINEFRAME 25. Its supposed to give a film atmosphere, but what is the fps? If the 25 stands for 25 fps then surely this would be the same as shooting in normal video mode. So my question is, what is the fps when the Z1 is set to shoot in CINEFRAME 25 mode?
I don't really use this but I do like to know the ins and outs of all my equipment, so if theres anyone out there that has this camera please enlighten me.
